From the Top breakpieces from Princeton, El Paso and San Marcos
Been so busy i haven't had time to upload the last few breakpieces as free mp3's to the site (download by clicking on the titles, as they appear).
Our show commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the American Boy Chior at Princeton University's exquisite Richardson Auditorium, one of the country's most perfect recording spaces with certainly the best in-house piano, was the site of my performance of
Chopin/Liszt: Fruhling

It was nice to return to the glamorous vaudeville house, the Palace Theater in El Paso, TX, for a show we did there about a week ago. In honor of our proximity to Mexico (Juarez surrounds the downtown El Paso area), I played Manuel Ponce: Mazurka #6. aside from the intensely tubercular front row denizen at the top, it's a nice enough recording.
Just last Saturday, we taped a show at the Texas State International Piano Festival at Evans Auditorium on the Texas State (most famous alum: LBJ) campus in San Marcos. I played Chopin/Liszt: The Maiden's Wish.

O'Riley's Liszt

Christopher O‘RileyO’Riley’s Liszt

O’Riley will tour the album of iconic Liszt transcriptions throughout May in  New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC and San Francisco

April 25, 2013  (New York, NY) – In the grand tradition of virtuosic pianists, Christopher O’Riley’s showmanship and iconoclast status make him the Franz Liszt of our time. In his new recording O’Riley’s Liszt – to be released May 7 on Oxingale Records,  O‘Riley delves into the transcriptions of that master interpreter, adding his own touches and insight to the music of Mozart, Wagner, Berlioz, Schubert and Schumann. This multi-layered audio and visual experience is available as a 2-CD set and HD audio/video Blu-ray in stores and online, as well as on iTunes, HDtracks and other digital sites. The Blu-ray offers the audio in both stereo and HD 4-channel surround sound and a corresponding music video on each track, along with an artist commentary audio layer in which O’Riley brings his extensive musical and historical knowledge to enliven and enlighten the listening experience.

With his groundbreaking transcriptions of Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake and other rock musicians, O'Riley has stretched the piano beyond conventional boundaries.  O’Riley’s Liszt is no exception and is poised to be his latest unforgettable and sublime interpretation of the Classical canon.

Throughout May 2013, Christopher O’Riley will present repertoire from the Liszt album on tour in clubs and other alternative venues in New York, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco and Chicago.

Chintana from my original score to MarkZ. Danielewski's The 50-Year Sword
October sees far-flung performances with Matt Haimovitz, From the Top, in solo recital, and with Mark Z. Danielewski in solo (and sometomes ensemble readings, as at St. Joseph College in Brooklyn which saw SNL's Darrell Hammond joining the cast) collaboration for which i contributed an original score for his ghost story, The 50-Year Sword. The recent eBook release of same features live animation or text and thread as well as copious music cues triggered by page-turns by Yours Truly. I took the opportunity to share some of the T50YS materail with our FTT audience at a recent taping of the program in conjunction with the Mondavi Center in Davis, CA.
