Stephen Graham Jones ~ Three Miles Past

just finished reading Stephen Graham Jones‘ triptych of novellas, Three Miles Past, the meat, the most delicious and horrifying nexus of code and prose: fear/the unknown; the crust/shell two incarnations of my new favorite fictional serial killer, SGJ’s William Colton Hughes (though he, in the appended Story Notes, only credits WCH for the first of the two serial killer novellas, though WCH IS thanked at the top; those Story Notes, hey: we find the basis and integrity of the horror distilled in these stories, the roots of his own fears, and that he knows how much is at stake in this decanting of experience into prose, even as its reads like second nature to him).
these are definitely the scariest and some of the most beautiful tales i’ve read of SGJ, or anybody.
