Just finished reading Haruki Murakami‘s Magnum Opus, 1Q84, an 1100+ page-turner, if there ever was one. an epicurean thriller, a lesson in the primal, essential power of story and legend, alternate reality of the most exalted, Romantic type, an iconic love story, and as always in Murakami’s work, the connection between us all.
I’ve now read everything of Murakami’s save an early novel, one book of short stories and his two non-fiction works. I’m going to take some time off from my Murakami binge in order to catch up on the latest translation of the late Bohumil Hrabal, Harlequin’s Millions. Even the first page, you know you’re in the hands of a master.
